CPD + TECHNICAL SEMINARS
Here you can find information on the range of CIBSE accredited and additional presentations exploring light from a technological, application and sustainability focus. Each seminar lasts approximately 45mins and is available to be delivered in-person, hybrid or online only. Certificates of attendance are supplies for your training records.
Workplace Lighting
Looking at the challenges and opportunities the changing nature of offices present, this seminar addresses how light quality, legislation and sustainability can co-exist and how the characteristics of light can impact visual performance and human well-being. Concluding with questioning how data insights and technology can lead the next phase of spatial optimisation.
Accreditation: CIBSE
Lighting controls
Charting the evolution of lighting controls up to the latest techniques and technologies that offer enhanced experiences. Exploring how lighting infrastructures are uniquely positioned to help gather the data which will help drive intelligent buildings and demonstrating the opportunities, and challenges, where controls can help drive building energy efficiency upwards.
Accreditation: CIBSE
Exterior lighting
When creating a built environment that enhances people’s lives while protecting the planet, exterior lighting has an essential role to play. Here we explore the potential effect of LED technology on sustainability including, controllability, miniaturisation and efficiency. While questioning how lighting might respond to the challenge of providing light whilst minimising collateral impacts.
Accreditation: CIBSE
Human Centric Lighting
From the WELL Standard to Circadian, the ability to quantify and specify the characteristics of lighting that enhance our experience of a space and support our biological well-being. This seminar provides an overview of how to apply these principles to interior spaces.
Smart buildings
The emergence of smart building technologies has reinvented lighting solutions to become the backbone of integrated building eco-systems. From way finding and automation, to data driven space utilisations, we explore the latest evolution in lighting technology.
Sustainable illumination
Based on the three pillars of sustainability, Planet, People, Profit, we dissect the different phases in a life of a luminaire before summarising the latest methodology of assessing the total environmental impact of a lighting solution and its compatibility with a circular economy.
MEET OUR PRESENTERS
Steve Shackleton
Steve has spent 40 years in the lighting industry, initially as a lighting designer but more latterly in management roles in both the UK and Europe. He gained his formal lighting education at Salford CoT and has co-conceived and authored widely acknowledged best practice industry application documents.
Les Thomas
Lighting technology manager at Fagerhult, Les is part of the SLL executive committee and was part of the consultation team for the creation of the CIBSE TM65 and TM66, which provide an assessment methodology for both the circularity and embodied carbon of luminaires.
Nick Van Tromp
Controls and connectivity manager at Fagerhult, Nick has been in the lighting controls industry for over 20 years and has designed systems for a variety of different project types including the first building in the world to achieve a SmartScore Platinum rating.
